Women's
Auxiliary
Since 1968, the Women’s Auxiliary has communicated the
important work of The Jewish Home for the Elderly to the local
community and contributed valuable volunteer and financial
resources. Their fundraising efforts have played an essential
role in furthering the Home’s mission and standard of
health care.
Mission
The overriding mission of the Women’s Auxiliary is to
nurture, enhance and support quality of life initiatives for
residents and clients of the Home. To fulfill its mission,
the Women’s Auxiliary enhances services, develops life
enriching programs and works with the Home’s professional
staff to address the constantly changing needs of the Home.
Integral to the basic mission are the following charges:
• To provide funds, through fundraising activities and donations,
which serve specific needs of the residents.
• To contribute leadership and guidance that benefit the Auxiliary
and to volunteer time to benefit the elderly and their families.
• To provide programs of value and substance to current and prospective
members and to the community at large.
• To increase awareness and educate the community about the Home’s
programs and services.
Fundraising Activities
The Women’s Auxiliary offers a variety of activities
and events throughout the year that appeal to a diverse membership
and community. These events include the Annual Spring Luncheon,
Fall Gala, Oneg Shabbat, and other outreach programs for the
community and family members of residents. For over 35 years,
the dedication and creativity of members have enabled the Auxiliary
to contribute over $4 million to The Jewish Home. These funds
have helped to ensure that the residents receive care, special
services, recreational activities and religious and cultural
programs, both within and beyond the Home’s campus.
Special Funds
There are a variety of giving opportunities throughout the
year. Funds have been established to serve specific needs of
the residents and include the following:
• The Tribute
Fund provides resources for residents to attend
plays, concerts, luncheons and other events as part of a unique
Therapeutic Recreation program.
• The Chai Certificate Fund provides transportation for residents.
Since its inception, this fund has purchased two handicapped
accessible buses that enable residents to participate in off-site
activities.
• The Flower Fund purchases Shabbat flowers for the residents’ dining
room, nursing units solaria and special holiday celebrations.
• The Belle D. Cone Library Fund provides needed supplies and
special reading-adapted materials for the residents’ library.
• The Pushka Fund provides funds for the residents’ needs
and programs. Containers for “loose change” are
available in the Women’s Auxiliary office.
