FAIRFIELD - Recently (3/11/08) residents of The Jewish Home aged 100 years or older celebrated with family and friends at
the annual David Erenberg Centenarians Luncheon. Eight residents attended ranging in age from 100 to 107.
Each celebrant received a teddy bear wearing an age-specific t-shirt reading, for example, "102 year olds rock!"
"Celebrating with these individuals is an incredible experience," said Andrew H. Banoff, CEO & President of The Jewish Home.
"I truly feel privileged to be a part of their lives and I learn from them every day."
David Erenberg, a centenarian plus four who lived his final years at the Home, taught Banoff an important lesson which he shared
at the event.
"One day I asked David to tell me his secret of longevity," said Banoff. "In response, David started rubbing his cheeks and
said, ‘See, I’m exercising my smile muscles so they will always be ready.’ Having that attitude is valuable at any age."
