Andrew Banoff, of Trumbull, President & CEO of The Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield, Ken Flatto, Fairfield First Selectman, Chris Tymnick, representing Governor Jodi Rell, Gina Livia, of Wallingford, the Adult Day Center's Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator, Donna Lange, RN, of Fairfield, Adult Day Center Director, and Brenda Kupchick, of Representative Christopher Shays' office. Flatto presented a proclamation from the Town of Fairfield in recognition of Adult Day Center Week. Tymnick presented a proclamation from Governor Rell in recognition of the Jewish Home’s Adult Day Center's 30 years of service to the community. Kupchick presented a letter of congratulations.
Adult Day Center Week was observed recently (9/18/07) along with the 30th anniversary of this important program at The Jewish Home for the Elderly, Fairfield. The Center's clients, their family members, guests from the community and the staff celebrated with parties and special programs.
"Adult Day Centers have a very significant role in society today," said Gina Livia, of Wallingford, Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator at the Center. "People are living longer and need an environment where they can have a good time, relax with peers and receive medical supervision to sustain quality of life. Family members feel secure knowing their loved ones are enjoying their time at an Adult Day Center while they go to work and address their needs."
