At
The Jewish Home giving back to the community is not just a
cliché, but a way of life for over 300 men and women
who serve as volunteers. Our devoted volunteers have given
more than a million hours of their time to touch the lives
of the elderly in our Home.
Volunteers contribute in a variety of ways. You can see them
leading current events discussion groups, applying their computer
skills in offices, transporting residents to the Synagogue,
and taking patients to physical therapy sessions. Volunteers
greet you at the reception desks, escort you on tours of the
facility and, during one-to-one visits, write letters, videotape
autobiographies and read poetry, providing both social and
intellectual stimulation for our residents.
If you want to know you are making a positive difference
in someone's life, being a Volunteer can give you the satisfaction
you seek. Many students enhance their academic studies, gain
insight into career plans through exposure to geriatric
practice
in a medical model, and enrich their community by becoming
volunteers. The Home's Coordinator of Volunteer Services
matches
the individual interests of each volunteer to the varied
opportunities so there is something for everyone.
Volunteers'
suggestions
for new activities are always welcome.
Volunteers' hours of involvement are individually designed
to accommodate your busy schedule.
