Choices are life’s challenge. As we age, the options anticipated may not be available and alternate paths are taken. Residency in The Jewish Home offers services and amenities to maximize the quality of life for residents and their families. Combining the latest geriatric advances with our practice principle emphasizing the uniqueness of each resident, The Jewish Home has created an environment that cares for the body, engages the mind and nurtures the soul.

Physical needs are addressed by physicians, our round-the-clock nursing staff, practitioners in our on-site clinic (ophthalmology, dentistry, podiatry), physical, occupational and speech therapists and dietitians.

Intellectual and Social needs are addressed by our Department of Resident Life, including therapeutic recreation programs (such as baking, crafts, creative writing, current events, exercise, Mah Jongg, music and classes in Hebrew and Yiddish), the residents’ Computer Lab for individual internet access and email accounts, Beauty Salon, Barber Shop and Work Activity Center.

Trips to theaters, museums, gardens and beaches enable our residents to stay involved with Fairfield County’s excellent cultural and natural resources. Pet Therapy is a vital part of our programming. Intergenerational activities bring together residents and children from our Child Care Center, local schools and area synagogues, for holiday celebrations and mutual encouragement.

Spiritual needs are addressed by our Director of Pastoral Services. Residents take an active part in leading Services in our synagogue and are able to light candles for Sabbath and Holidays in our Candlelighting Room. The Jewish Home’s Kosher meals provide variety with traditional taste. The Director of Pastoral Services invites clergy of all faiths to become involved with life in The Jewish Home.

Above all, at The Jewish Home we strive to help each resident find physical comfort and personal meaning in his or her life. Because freedom is the recognition of necessity, as geriatric professionals we meet the needs so each resident can enjoy the freedom of choices our supportive environment provides.
