How to Make a Difference
Annual Campaign
Throughout the years, generous support from donors has funded programs designed to promote wellness and life enrichment, many capital purchases and offered operational support to the Home.
Annual Campaign dollars have supported and continue to support:
- The monthly Great Performance Series which brings soloists, bands, classical musicians and others to entertain the residents and their families.
- The computer lab to enable our residents to communicate via email and be kept up-to-date with information provided on the internet.
- The much needed transporters who enhance the daily lives of our residents by bringing more people to daily activities.
- New state-of-the art medical equipment designed for long-term care facilities including pressure-relief mattresses.
Capital Campaign
The JHE Foundation will soon be embarking upon a capital campaign to build a new Home, a home of the future, which will serve our frail elderly in the most updated facility with state-of-the-art programmatic and architectural design.
Endowment
Complementing generous annual support, Endowment gifts guarantee our mission: to enhance the quality of life and well being for every person served by the Home. Creating a substantial Endowment helps ensure The Jewish Home’s continued ability to provide high quality programs and services that set the standard of excellence in long-term health care and provide financial security in an era of eroding governmental support and increased operational costs.
A guiding policy of the Board of the JHE Foundation is the preservation of the Endowment’s purchasing power. A spending policy has been adopted which guarantees that a portion of the interest earned each year will be added back to grow the capital base.
Special Donor Designated Funds
In addition to Endowment giving, special restricted funds have been established by committed donors of The Jewish Home. A donor may chose to designate a gift of $10,000 or more for a special purpose annual fund or for a donor designated endowment fund where interested is expended to a specific program or purpose as defined by the donor. Examples of existing funds include: the Art Therapy Program, Alzheimer’s Education and Programming, the Work Activity Center, Candlelight Dinners, Music Enhancement, Residents’ Library/Computer Lab and Resident Life.
Planned Giving
Life Income Gifts
Life income gifts allow an individual to receive enhanced lifetime income, while receiving immediate income tax benefits like reduced capital gains. With a Charitable Gift Annuity, you will receive a safe and stable income for the rest of your life (and the life of another person if you choose), while securing The Jewish Home’s financial future. A gift annuity is a simple contract between a donor and the Home in which the Home pays the donor a yearly sum based on the value of the gift. With the uncertainty of a volatile economic environment, the inherent risks associated with the stock market, and low interest rates, there can be no better time than now to contemplate an investment in a Charitable Gift Annuity with The Jewish Home.
Naming the Home as a Beneficiary
Gifts to Endowment may also be made through a living trust, life insurance policies, retirement plans or real estate.
Bequests Through Your Will
You may also name The Jewish Home in your will and designate how you would like your contribution to be used.
Additional Opportunities
You may support the Home through your donations to and participation in the events of the Women’s Auxiliary and Men’s Club including the Fall Gala, the George Lipton Golf and Tennis Invitational and the Spring Luncheon. The annual membership drives raise additional funds helping to enhance the lives of our residents.
