Outpatient Physician Services

In pursuit of The Jewish Home’s mission to provide high quality health care the Home offers on-site primary care practices.  Physicians are available to meet the needs of residents at the Home and anyone in the community. To make an appointment with a doctor, call 203-365-6473.

 

David Marks, M.D.

Medical Director, The Jewish Home for the Elderly

Dr. David Marks became Medical Director of The Home and Post-Acute Rehabilitation in June, 2010. He received his medical degree from Yale University and a Master of Public Administration degree, with an emphasis in Health Services Management, from New York University.  He also completed a fellowship in allergy and immunology at Harvard, and he has extensive clinical and research experience in the treatment of headaches. 

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Marks comes to the Home with expertise not only in the practice of medicine, but also in the field of health communications. He served as Health & Science Editor and medical reporter for both the NBC and CBS TV stations in New York City.  He’s also appeared on multiple major television network programs, has written two books, and has authored numerous articles for newspapers, medical journals, and websites. 

Dr. Marks looks forward to working toward improving the quality of life of patients and residents of the Home, as well as the outside community.

 

Kenneth Fine, M.D.

Medical Director, The Institute on Aging

Dr. Kenneth Fine joined The Jewish Home as The Institute on Aging (IOA) Medical Director in August of 2007.  His more than 25 years in medicine included numerous leadership positions in both internal medicine and emergency medicine at prestigious academic medical centers.  He has held faculty appointments at Yale, Columbia, Cornell, and Mt Sinai Medical Schools and a fellowship at the New York Academy of Medicine.

His experience practicing as a general internist at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center helped him understand the true need for a comprehensive and multifaceted approach to caring for the elderly.  At the Home, Dr. Fine offers Geriatric Assessments, which is a comprehensive medical and social evaluation of an older client to see that their needs are met, to our local community through the IOA on an outpatient basis as well as serves as a primary care physician for both long-term care residents and community patients.  The IOA also can coordinate various health care services for clients through its care management program.

Hervey A. Weitzman, M.D.

Dr. Weitzman has cared for patients in our community for over 30 years.  He recently moved his primary care practice to the Home in order to continue to serve patients living in the community, as well as provide care to residents at the Home.  He holds expertise in the areas of Pathology, Oncology, and Hematology, and has taught at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center.  He received his medical degree from the University of Vermont, College of Medicine.  Dr. Weitzman’s years of experience caring for adult patients, often with complex medical situations, makes him a valued addition to The Jewish Home medical staff and excellent option for patients.
