| The
Adult Day Center of The Jewish Home has over 25 years
of experience as a key resource for elders in the Fairfield
County area. The program serves individuals who may be
experiencing
memory impairment, who may need opportunities for socialization
and recreation, or whose families may need respite support.
Our Center’s philosophy is to meet the individual’s
medical needs within a socially stimulating environment. Clients
are able to remain living in their own homes much longer as
a result of their participation at the Center. By offering
different levels of therapeutic recreation, socialization,
and interactive programs we are able to ensure a successful
experience for each participant. The Center also offers support
groups, in conjunction with the Connecticut Chapter of the
Alzheimer’s Association, for our clients’ family
members and individuals in the community to help them better
understand their elders and to be aware of the latest research
developments for treatment.
Services available to participants in the Adult Day Center include:
- Medications
dispensed by a registered nurse
- Supervision
and programming by a professional clinical staff
- Bathing
by certified nursing assistants
- Kosher
hot lunches
- Intergenerational
activities in coordination with community schools and
youth
groups
- Enclosed
courtyard for enjoying the outdoors safely
- Transportation
arrangements
The
Adult Day Center is open Mondays through Fridays from 7:30
AM until 4:30 PM, and on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Clients of the Adult Day Center are eligible to use the comprehensive
resources of The Jewish Home, including the medical clinics,
rehabilitation services (such as physical therapy), non-medical home care (Compassionate Care Companions), and the
Work Activity Center.
The Home's Center is certified as a medical model Adult Day
Center through the Connecticut Association of Adult Day Centers
in cooperation with the State of Connecticut Department of
Social Services. Fees for the Center are maintained at an
affordable level to facilitate participation for everyone
who could benefit from its programs and services.
